RENOVATION OF THE CHURCH IN PROBSTDORF,
LOWER AUSTRIA
1999

The renovation of this church exposes several historical layers of the construction: the Romanesque crypt below the chancel, the Baroque alterations to the Gothic elements, the additions of the early 19th century and, now, the most recent interventions, thus rendering the church's passage through time readable in the architecture as an ongoing process. A new altar and ambo in limestone, the pews in maple, the floors of Kehlheim flagstones and a new confessional; all of which representing continued development, in which new fragments are added to the fragments of the old.
