  About us

DE ROTONDE, AMSTERDAM
1997-2000

This building is made up of seven individual houses and is brought together with the covered walkway on the fourth floor to form one larger block. With this, a kind of hybrid has been created: individual townhouses and, at the same time, an urban monolithic residential block. This design has been shaped by the traditional residential buildings on the canals, as well as by the metropolitan residential blocks of modern Amsterdam.

A mighty round tower dominates at the road intersection. The individual houses are formed of stacked maisonette apartments; one of the large apartments is used as a residential commune for visually-impaired people.
